Phase 2
1. How to create a YouTube channel
2. Making videos interactive with EdPuzzle
3. Alternatives to EdPuzzle
4. Assignment
5. Class Padlet link
Why create your own YouTube channel? For one thing, most students know how to access YouTube. As such, if they "get lost" or "forget where to find a link," this provides them with an option. Additionally, uploading your screencasts/videos to YouTube allows you to modify content in numerous ways. Finally, you just might become famous! Plus, your "street cred" with your students will skyrocket!
Creating screencasts is one thing. Finding ways to keep those watching the videos interested is another. If you don't include ways for students to interact with the video content, then basically they are just listening to you talk.
One way to make your screencasts/videos more interactive is to use EdPuzzle. It is a site that affords the user the opportunity to choose from videos that have already been created or to edit their own video content.

EdPuzzle Support
EduCanon/Playposit allows the user to pause videos and add "bulbs" or questions to the video. Some services are free; others require subscription.
VideoAnt is a video annotation tool. Use VideoAnt to add annotations, or comments, to web-hosted videos. VideoAnt-annotated videos are called “Ants”. Unlike with EdPuzzle, one cannot include questions with analytics. This free service is for annotation only.
Anchor.fm / app (Podcast)
Anchor (Anchor.fm) is a free online podcast creation site (app). Upload podcasts, include personalized art, etc. Students can record directly from the app.
Create your own YouTube Channel. Upload your screencast to YouTube. Then, using EdPuzzle, PlayPosit, or Panopto, create an interactive version of your video. Include at least one of each question types, at least one audio note. Post the final product to the class Padlet.
The first table to gather a paper clip, a stapler, a hair clip and a comb (and bring them to the front) will win a prize!
