SOUTHWEST PREP CHARTER SCHOOL (7-11 to 2-20)

  • Coached teachers in the implementation of 21st Century learning skills and the creation of lessons related to these skills-Resulted in school test scores improving by 20 percent in multiple years

  • Served as part ELA instructor/part administrator- Responsible for instruction and teacher evaluation, as well as planning PLC meetings and leading them

  • Selected District ELA Lead- Planned District PLC meetings and helped teachers implement good pedagogical practices / effective use of technology

  • Selected as Gifted and Talented Lead- Responsible for identifying, testing and servicing GT students

  • Organized and managed the Homelessness Awareness Program-Brought awareness to community and raised $2,000 for those in need

  • Created a campus library by soliciting donations from city agencies

  • Created staff development in areas of instruction methodology-Trained staff in the effective use of technology in the classroom

  • Instrumental in raising test scores from 40% to 95% STAAR passing rate

  • Mentored teachers to improve performance-Trained teachers in methods for STAAR preparation and effective use of technology

ABRAXAS FAMILY SERVICES / JOHN H. WOOD CHARTER SCHOOL – English Language Arts Teacher (8-8 to 11-09) 

  • Responsible for teaching ELA to at-risk youth in a JPD/CPS residential treatment center (School closed)

  • Mentored new teachers-Trained teachers new to the profession in classroom management

  • Selected to participate in the Campus Improvement Team to improve test scores-Created data-based plan that helped increase student test scores by twenty-five percent

  • Conducted counseling sessions with student groups-Processed with residents

  • Center was closed due to funding issues

 

NISD / STEVENS HIGH SCHOOL – English Teacher (8-06 to 6-08) – San Antonio

  • Responsible for teaching English (grades 10-11)-Improved test scores by ten percent in first year 

  • Journalism Instructor grades 9-12-Assisted with creation of school paper and yearbook

  • Responsible for overseeing the school yearbook and newspaper-Responsible for final edits

  • Junior class sponsor-Raised over $5,000 in two years

 

NISD / HEALTH CAREERS HIGH SCHOOL – Assistant Principal (6-02 to 6-05) – San Antonio

  • Established and managed the Health Sciences Center Mentor Program-Recruited students in medical school to mentor students on campus

  • Established and managed a chapter of the Big Brothers / Big Sisters in San Antonio-Mentored students at local elementary school

  • Managed a staff of 30 teachers-Responsible for teacher assessment, discipline, etc.

  • Conducted staff evaluations and staff development-Trained staff in use of technology in the classroom

  • Recruited students within Bexar County to attend HCHS

  • Maintained textbook inventory-Responsible for lost textbook recovery, inventory upkeep

Curriculum Development

Online Module- SAISD- 2022- Currently creating an online training module that 9th grade ELA teachers could implement to help struggling incoming 9th graders with their writing. Scenario-based.

 

Online Teacher Evaluation Training Module- 2020

Designed an online training course for teachers so that their understanding of the evaluation process would be enhanced through scenario-based scoring and activities (Articulate Storyline).

Project-Based Learning Unit- 2020- Designed a unit based on how rumors spread for ESC 20. The unit was ultimately adopted by the state.

Developed Content as part of the Texas Reading Academy- 2018- ESC 11- Designed content in Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Vyond, Powtoon, and Adobe Suite.
