My name is Dr. Scott Edward Moran. Welcome to my portfolio! This is a compilation of the work I did as a doctoral student at the University of North Texas. It also contains artifacts related to my career, including courses I have designed for the state, online curriculum I created, examples of my efforts to help teachers improve their teaching, and more!
Over the past twenty-nine years, I have worked as an educator, an administrator, an instructional coach, and as an instructional designer. Because of my belief in life-long learning, I earned master's degrees in Educational Administration (Texas A&M University) and in Instructional Design (Purdue University). Through these programs and my various roles, I have been fortunate enough to design Project-Based Learning units for the state of Texas and to contribute to the Texas Reading Academies curriculum, a sixty-hour online professional development course required for all K-5 teachers and administrators in Texas.
Without question, I have had a passion for teaching with technology for years, and I have used that passion as the basis for Professional Development (PD) sessions I have taught as an adjunct instructor at ESC Region 20. I have also led PD sessions in my own district and in many other districts across the state.
My chief interests include researching ways to make our schools and companies sustainable, designing curriculum, and teaching the next generation of educators. I can think of no greater calling than to help save our planet or help the next generation of teachers.
I think it is really interesting to see how I have developed as a student and researcher over the past few years. For my dissertation, I focused on a topic that was beyond my scope of experience as an educator. However, sustainability is an issue that could have a tremendous impact on our world as a system. As such, I welcomed the challenge. I am pushed myself beyond my comfort zone, for that is when true learning occurs. In short, while this is a challenge was unlike any I had undertaken, I was ready to face it head on.
